Landline Phones

In a world where the modern technology is constantly evolving, the need for landline phones has appeared to go out the window. With the use of cell phones to serve as house phones as well as mobile phones, landlines are presumed to be a thing of the past. Despite being outdated, landlines do have their advantages. The major advantage is how they react during an emergency. When emergencies arise from home, it is easier to call 911. Furthermore, during power outages, landline phones still work. Finally, during an emergency, phone operators can detect your address easier with a landline than with a cellular phone. Landline phones are also better than cellular phones in that faxes can be sent and received with the calling number for a landline; this cannot be done on a cellular phone. Also, home security systems commonly use a landline to call when a threat has been detected.

That being said, landlines have some obvious drawbacks. The first is that they cannot be taken with you. This is a drawback because if emergencies happen on the road, landlines cannot help you at all. Secondly, they are not as readily available as cell phones. No matter where you are, you can be reached with a cell phone. However, landlines are not as reachable. Also, with cell phones you do not need to have a contract like with a landline phone. Landline phones are not as versatile in their plans, whereas cell phones can be contracted or free lance like Trackphone. Finally, landlines are more expensive. Between the cost of long distance and additional charges, they are expensive.

To conclude, landline phones are slowly being outnumbered by cellular phones. Local landline phone service providers are attempting to shed some light on the pros of landline phones. Landline phones are great during emergencies and provide a stable number for faxing and security reasons. On the other hand, landline phones are more expensive and cannot travel with you. Thus, while landline phones have some minor defaults, they are a great resource to have in your home and could potentially be worth the drawbacks.
