This is a phrase that is thrown around a lot these days, but there is rarely an explanation that goes along with it. So what constitutes a good daily diet? There are three primary things to consider when it comes to forming a diet; calories, nutrients and types of food. The average human body that receives an average amount of physical activity needs around 2,000 calories a day in order to maintain energy levels. And then you should consider the types of food you eat. In general you should shy away from fatty and sweet foods and concentrate more on getting a healthy amount of fruits, vegetables, dairy products and a small amount of meats and grains.

A good daily diet is simply one that fits the needs of your body and does nothing more. A poor diet is one that consists of too many sugars, salts and fats that your body does need but only in lower levels. Your body needs a specific amount of vitamins, minerals, calories and other nutrients on a daily basis. When it comes to vitamins and minerals, your body will get rid of what it doesn't need. But when it comes to calories and fats, your body is hardwired to keep whatever it can. But since we live in a society of plenty, we will always have unlimited access to these items. Too much fat, salt and sugar in your food can lead to serious health issues later in life.
